It can be challenging to find a doctor that even understands ME/CFS not much less one that counts as an actual expert. The following resources can be helpful. A loving reminder that I am not an expert; I am a fellow patient trying to sort through all of the information to find what’s valuable. Most of these doctors have been recommended by other patients and I have no personal experiences with them.
Portals
A guide to finding the right doctor by Co-Cure. This site is bizarre after being taken over from the original owner after his death. There’s no location information and some of the things they say are a horror and offensive. “We at CO-Cure strongly believe that CFS is a condition that can be handled perfectly well, if you know how.” This implies that if you’re not handling it “perfectly well” then it is because you are ignorant of their special way or that you’re to blame; the indifference to the suffering of so many people appalls me. Co-Cure also advocates using GET which can have devastating consequences for PWC but that information is not easy to find on their website. Also, the site is incredibly outdated. I’ll work on finding the additional quotes. At best this site is extremely outdated. (1 / 5)

Online Doctors
Richmond (Virginia) Integrative and Functional Medicine– It’s expensive running at about $6000. The first visit is required to be in person, but after that it can e online. I believe the same is going to be true for most doctors that offer concierge programs like this. I’m not sure they can do very much to help patients that isn’t already commonly available online. I think that programs like this only offer the advantage of ordering more tests than you’re average doctor. (1 / 5)
The Institute for Neuro Immune Medicine at Nova Southeastern University – “The Institute for Neuro Immune Medicine is a premier research and treatment center for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome… and other related Neuro Immune Disorders. Diseases such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV/AIDs), fibromyalgia, autism spectrum disorder, lyme disease and Gulf War Syndromes are some of the illnesses that are treated at the Institute. ” Dr. Nancy Klimas, M.D. was featured in the movie Unrest. The first visit must be in person and then subsequent visits can be virtual. The program requires a Primary Care doctor in place for their patients. I used to live near there and I can tell you that the University had a stellar reputation in the community. (5 / 5)
Dr. Jacob Teitlebaum, MD – will be retiring as of 11/2022 and is no longer accepting new patients. Additionally his SHINE protocol is based on the idea of reconditioning for PWC which is simply rebranding GET. (1 / 5)
Dr. Jacob Teitlbaum‘s Energy Analysis Program is still available online. It’s a bit long but it doesn’t have to be done in a single sitting. It’s helpful to have your latest blood results handy for one section of the questionnaire. I was impressed with the results. The test can be helpful but his SHINE protocol is based on the idea of reconditioning for PWC which is simply rebranding GET…. (1 / 5)
